LOWER SCHOOL BOARDING ROOMS/FACILITIES
Our team has a wealth of experience working in boarding houses within the UK and internationally. Our role at The Hammond allows us to share this experience with students and parents. We all share the goal of providing boarders with the best possible experience we can offer. This is an exciting time to be a boarder at The Hammond as our boarding provision is going from strength to strength.
We support a thriving boarding community that enables boarders to experience a home from home environment whilst following academic and vocational training of the highest quality in dance and theatre arts.
Boarders are nurtured to develop their individual talents and personalities. Staff and students live together with respect, understanding, friendship and acceptance, which develops self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence.
Our boarders thrive in our supportive and friendly boarding community. During the day, students are educated and trained to the highest standards and boarding life complements these efforts by allowing students to develop culturally, morally and socially, whilst adopting the healthy values of honesty, courage, equality and fellowship.
Key life skills are learnt in our boarding community. These include communication, team work, confidence, leadership, responsibility, tolerance, self-management, time keeping and resilience. These skills and values are developed through a wide range of activities and experiences under the supervision of our experienced boarding staff team
"I’ve had an incredible time with both staff and students during my time in Boarding. I’ve felt right at home. The girls I live with are more than my friends; they’re my sisters and I don’t know what I’d do without them! The boarding staff are kind, friendly and always willing to talk. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to call my second home."
The Hammond's Post-16 students come from all over the UK and abroad so a large number find themselves living away from home whilst they complete their training. We do not recommend any particular accommodation providers so potential students are free to explore the local options. These include private landlords, Tramways (student accommodation in the heart of Chester), and local host families.
More detailed information will be available at our audition days but please be assured, The Hammond has a dedicated team of staff ensuring students are supported as they move away from home for the first time. This support is continued throughout their training and Pastoral care for Senior students is overseen by the Assistant Principal and Pastoral Leader, who are on hand to help with any issues that may arise.
Please email: if you have any specific questions or concerns regarding Post-16 accommodation.
